PRHS ACADEMICS
At Pea Ridge High School, students have the unique opportunity to choose one of several pathways where they learn authentic career skills from teachers with real-life experience in those pathways or gain the skills they need to be successful in education beyond high school. The skills they gain through these pathways are comparable to the skills students would receive from a technical, community college, or the first year of a university.
We are looking to expand our pathways over the next few years. For the 2020-2021 school year, our pathways include:
- Agriculture
- Audio Visual Technology
- Automation, Technology, and Manufacturing
- Computer Science and Technology
- Culinary Arts
- Fine Arts
- Marketing and Business
- Graphic Design
- Health Sciences
Preparing students in Pea Ridge for an uncommon college and career experience requires students to have a deeper understanding of the multiple opportunities for success available for them in grades 7 -12. We work to ensure that each student’s personal experience is in preparation for their life after high school, students enroll in the career readiness courses and complete a coherent sequence of experiences aligned with Arkansas College and Career Readiness standards required for graduation. Students will use these courses as a vehicle to help prepare them for college and career success, to fully experience all of the opportunities available to them, and create and manage an online student success portfolio. Through their coursework, students will analyze, re-evaluate, and update their personal academic success portfolio annually during the extensive registration process. The college and career readiness courses also expose students to an extensive advisory-type curriculum. At the culmination of these courses, students will be prepared to enter their post-secondary life.
